Inestrillas timber footbridge

The structural system of the main (17.4 m) span of this timber footbridge is a traditional king-post truss, like the ones used in many traditional buildings. The deck and the compression members of the triangular trusses are made up of GL-28h glue-laminated-timber beams while the tension members are steel bars. An access four-span ramp has been designed to allow for river widening during flood periods. The deck of this ramp is also made of timber, using elements with the same dimensions as those belonging to the deck of the main span. Timber protection details have been thoroughly designed to improve durability and to reduce maintenance needs as much as possible. The footbridge has a timber decking.
